RIVERSIDE, Calif. --
The Sonoma State baseball team managed just four hits on Friday afternoon as host Cal Baptist pitched its way to a 2-0 non-conference victory at Totman Stadium in Riverside.  The Seawolves fall to 4-2 this season while the Lancers improve to 3-4, snapping a four-game skid.

Harmen Sidhu got the start on the mound for SSU and pitched well into the sixth inning, giving up one earned run on five hits with six strikeouts and two walks.  However, the Seawolves offense could not get on the board, due to the lights-out pitching of CBU's right-hander Jon Bengard, who tossed a complete came shutout, fanning nine Sonoma State batters en route to his first win of the season.  Sidhu was tagged with the loss and drops to 1-1 in the early season.

Cal Baptist had a run cross the plate in the bottom of the second inning when Blair Moore singled on the first pitch of the inning.  It allowed the next batter, Zach Esquerra, to drive him in with an RBI double.  Later in the game, CBU was able to get a run off of SSU reliever Taylor Herbert when Herbert threw the ball away on a bunt by Matt Daugherty.  The error allowed Andy Crowly to come around to score the unearned run, putting Cal Baptist up by the eventual final score of 2-0.

Sonoma State was able to produce four hits, two coming off the bat of Devon Zenn, while Jackson Stogner and Steven Filippi each contributed one hit.  Meanwhile, Crowly had a big day at the plate for CBU in the leadoff spot, going 3-for-4 with a run scored.

Sonoma State will wrap up the three-game series against Cal Baptist with a doubleheader on Saturday; first pitch is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
