TURLOCK, Calif. --
Samantha Lipperd and Amanda Llerena combined to strikeout 23 batters and earn a pair of shutouts as the Sonoma State softball team swept host Cal State Stanislaus on Friday, both victories by the score of 3-0.  The Seawolves, ranked at No. 16 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Divison II Top 25 Coaches' Poll, have won four straight, improving to 23-8 overall and 16-6 in the CCAA.  The Warriors fall to 11-19 (6-16 CCAA).

Ali Palermo smacked her team-leading seventh home run in the opener, Holli Brown connected on her second home run of the season and Vanessa Currie recorded her CCAA-leading 12th and 13th doubles, including a two-RBI double in the nightcap and extending her CCAA-best hitting streak to 14 games, to lead Sonoma State offensively on the day.

Lipperd (14-3) allowed just four hits and three walks, striking out 11 in game one before Llerena (9-5) followed with a five-hit, one-walk effort with a career-high 12 strikeouts in game two.

Sonoma State will wrap up the four-game series with Cal State Stanislaus on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 11:00 a.m.

GAME 1

Palermo gave the Seawolves a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning with a solo shot to center field.  In their next at bat, Megan Konieczka led off the fifth with a triple to right center field before coming home for the 2-0 lead on a sacrifice fly by Samantha Beauchamp.  Another run came across the plate in the sixth when Currie scored from second base after a fielding error by the Warriors.

As for the Warriors, only two base runners would reach as far as third base just once in the contest.  Sarah Locarnini blasted a two-out triple in the third, but was left on base.  Cal State Stanislaus also threatened with two outs in the seventh, but the runners on first and second base would be left stranded after Lipperd got the final out of the game via a strikeout.

The Warriors' Brittani Weatherford (4-6) was tagged with the loss in the opener, allowing seven hits and three runs (two earned), walking three in game.

Lipperd gave up just four hits and walked three, striking out 11 -- the fourth time this season she has recorded 10 or more strikeouts in a game.  Currie went 2 for 4 with a run scored while five other Seawolves had one hit each, including Palermo with her solo home run in the fourth.

GAME 2

The game would be scoreless until the sixth inning when Brown ripped a solo home run to center field to give Sonoma State a 1-0 lead.  Then, in the seventh, the Seawolves plated two more, both coming home on another double by Currie.

That would be all SSU would need as Llerena followed with another stellar pitching performance by a Seawolf pitcher.  The freshman gave up five hits and one walk while striking out a career-high 12 batters.

Brown went 2 for 3 with the aforementioned solo home run in the sixth and five others had a hit each for Sonoma.
