In the top of the second inning, the Seawolves were able to get three runs on board on a Sam Montgomery RBI single into right center field, scoring Devon Zenn, to take a 1-0 lead over the Wildcats.  With the bases loaded and no outs, Garrett Gooselaw hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Garrett Schwartz from third to take a 2-0 lead.  A Justin Serrao single drove in the third run of the inning to stake a 3-0 lead after two innings of play.

Sonoma State loaded the bases in the top of the eighth inning, scoring once on a Gooselaw sacrifice fly and brought one more across in the ninth inning to take a 5-0 lead.

The Sonoma State offense was led by Jackson Stogner and Zenn, who each had a 3-for-5 day at the plate, while Gooselaw and Zenn each contributed two RBIs in the game.

Eric Angerer and Austin Prott recorded two hits in the game for the Wildcats.  Chico State starter Kagen Hopkins (7-1) pitched well, but was touched up for three runs in the top of the second inning en route to his first loss of the season.  Hopkins allowed nine hits and struck out three Seawolves in six innings of work.

Sonoma State will make its push toward the playoffs on the road next weekend when they travel to Carson, Calif. to take on Cal State Dominguez Hills in the final four-game series of the regular season.
