ARCATA, Calif. --
Despite draining 11 three-pointers and having five players score in double figures, the Sonoma State women's basketball team fell victim to a 13-3 Humboldt State run over the final five minutes of the contest to suffer a 75-69 loss on Thursday night at Lumberjack Arena in Arcata.  The Seawolves drop to 2-9 overall and 1-6 in the CCAA while the Lumberjacks move above .500 overall to 6-5 (3-4 CCAA).

Led by the 15 points of Hannah Sourek, Sonoma State led for 32 minutes in the ballgame and even held an 11-point lead (41-30) with 18:52 left in the second half after a three-pointer by Kristina Fahey.  However, Humboldt State rallied to outscore SSU 45-28 the rest of the way, stealing the victory on its home floor.

Sourek earned her 15 points of 6 of 13 shooting, including 1 of 3 from three-point range.  Dana Michaels scored 12 points, all in the first half, on 4 of 8 from the floor -- all four of Michaels' made shots were taken from beyond the three-point arc.  Kristina Fahey, Bronte Sheahan and Molly Kommer each chipped in with 10 points; Fahey had a team-high seven rebounds.

As a team, the Seawolves (24-55) outshot the Lumberjacks (23-61) 43.6 percent to 37.7 percent, but the game would be won at the free throw line where HSU hit 21 of 26 shots from the stripe (80.8 percent), whereas SSU was just 10 of 18 from the same spot (55.6 percent).  The 'Jacks also led in rebounds (44-33), blocks (5-3) and steals (10-4).

Humboldt State got a game-high 25 points out of the hands of Kersey Wilcox, who was the only HSU player to score in double figures.  She was 6 of 12 from the floor, including a perfect 4 for 4 effort from downtown, adding 9 of 10 free throws in the victory.  Megan Shields was Humboldt's second-leading scorer with nine tallies, rejecting five SSU shots on the defensive end.

Sonoma State will make the 680-mile trip south to Pomona for Saturday's 5:30 pm tipoff at 24th-ranked Cal Poly Pomona, which defeated San Francisco State, 73-60, also on Thursday.
