TURLOCK, Calif.
--  Led by a career-high 17 points from sophomore Taylor Acosta, the Sonoma State women's basketball team snapped a nine-game losing skid with a convincing 71-58 road win over Cal State Stanislaus on Saturday night in Turlock.  The Seawolves had four in double digits and used a strong second half surge to pick up their second conference win of the year.  Sonoma improves to 3-15, 2-12 CCAA while Stanislaus drops to 10-8, 7-7 CCAA.

The game stayed tight through the first half, with no team leading by more than six.  With the Warriors leading by five inside of two minutes to go, Sonoma State reeled off five straight before the teams traded three-pointers in the waning seconds to end the half tied at 34.

The score remained close, with neither team taking control, until the Seawolves rolled off eight straight to turn a 47-47 game into a 55-47 Sonoma advantage.  They would push the lead to ten and beyond and were never really threatened by the Warriors down the stretch.

Acosta's 17 points came on 4 of 9 shooting from the field and an 8 of 9 mark from the free throw line.  The rest of the Seawolves were just 10 of 22 combined from the charity stripe.  Kristina Fahey had 13 points and nine rebounds and four others had at least eight points as the Seawolves nearly set a season-high for points in a game (they scored 73 at Menlo in December).

Riley Holladay had 11 points for Cal State Stanislaus in a losing effort.

Following a stretch that saw them play 9 of their last 12 on the road, the Seawolves return home for six of their final eight games.  Cal State L.A. (Friday) and Cal State Dominguez Hills (Saturday) come to town next weekend.
