ROHNERT PARK --
Kristina Fahey calmly sank two free throws with 4.0 seconds left on the game clock, capping a 16-5 run over the final five minutes of the contest to lift the Sonoma State women's basketball team captured a thrilling 56-55 victory over Humboldt State on Saturday night at The Wolves' Den.  The Seawolves jump to 4-18 overall and 3-15 in the CCAA.  The Lumberjacks fall to 11-11 (8-10 CCAA).

In a game that featured seven ties and six lead changes, Sonoma State held a lead for a total of just over three minutes all evening, but it didn't faze a determined Seawolf squad despite trailing by 10 points (50-40) after a made jumper by Humboldt's Kersey Wilcox at the 5:53 mark. In fact, the visiting Lumberjacks nailed a three pointer with 2:56 left to go up by eight points (55-47), but the Seawolves scored the game's final nine points and held HSU to 0 for 3 from the floor with two turnovers in its final five possessions.

Sonoma forced a turnover with 7.9 seconds remaining and on its ensuing possession, Fahey went coast to coast and during her potential game-winning layup in the lane, she was fouled, sending her to the line.  That's where she swished both shots to give SSU the one-point lead.  Humboldt took the ball the length of the court, but before it could get a shot off, time expired and the Seawolves celebrated at midcourt.

Tanner Adams led Sonoma State with 15 points, all of which came from beyond the arc.  Taylor Acosta netted 12 points and Fahey scored 11, with nine of those points coming in the second half.  The Seawolves shot 35.2 percent as a team on 19 of 54 shooting.

Humboldt State, meanwhile connected on 32.8 percent of its shots (20 for 61).  Wilcox tied Adams for the game-high honor in points with 15, followed by 10 out of the hands of Megan Shields.

Sonoma State will hit the road for its final two road games of the 2013-14 campaign next Friday and Saturday.  The Seawolves head south to Cal State San Bernardino (Friday) and UC San Diego (Saturday), both tipping off at 5:30 pm.
