Interactive NCAA Div. II Women's Soccer Championship Tournament Bracket

INDIANAPOLIS -- The CCAA champion Sonoma State women's soccer team has qualified for the NCAA tournament for the third time in four years! 

Earning an at-large bid and the No. 3 seed in the West Region, the Seawolves (13-2-3) will head south to Azusa, Calif., to face No. 6 seed Point Loma (14-4) in the First Round of the 2015 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship Tournament set for Thursday night at 7:30 pm on the campus of No. 2 seed and host Azusa Pacific. 

The winner of Thursday's match will advance to the Second Round and play Azusa Pacific (15-2) on Saturday at 2:00 pm.

In the other West Regional, top-seeded Western Washington plays host to No. 4 seed UC San Diego (15-5-1) and No. 5 seed Seattle Pacific (13-4-2), also on Thursday in Bellingham, Wash.  The winner between UCSD and SPU will move on to the Second Round to take on WWU.

The two winners from the Second Round games on Saturday will face off in the West Regional final the following weekend at the site of the highest remaining seed after this weekend's contests.

Sonoma State faced Point Loma earlier this season down in San Diego and came away with a 1-0 victory on a goal by Kristal Luna in the 60th minute, but the win didn't come easy.  The Seawolves outshot their opponents 309-143 this season, but in the Sept. 12th contest, the Sea Lions held the upper hand in shots, 11-7.  Sonoma and Point Loma has only faced each other twice in their respective histories -- once in 2014 and once this year -- with SSU coming out on top, 1-0, both times.  Sonoma State and Azusa Pacific have also only played twice in history -- SSU lost 4-1 in the first meeting in 2000, but won 1-0 last year, both in Azusa.
