SEASIDE, Calif. – After 54 holes at Bayonet Golf Course, the Sonoma State men's golf team wrapped up play at the Otter Invitational, hosted by Cal State Monterey Bay, with an 11th-place finish in a loaded field of 17 teams.
The Seawolves completed the tournament 37 strokes behind champion, No. 2 Lynn University, with a 898 total and combined for scores of 296, 298 and 304 in the first through third rounds, respectively.
Spencer Clapp led the charge for the Seawolves, shooting 70-73-76—219; +3 good for a share of 11th place in the individual standings.
Devin Gregg cracked the top 35 with a 75-72-77—224; +8 which placed the senior tied for 34th overall. Ian Hoffman placed T-47th (76-75-76—227; +11) while
Blake Bourelle tied for 50th (75-78-75—228; +12) and
Isaiah Aguirre earned a tie for 85th, shooting 82-80-80—242; +26.
Tournament champion Lynn University combined rounds of 282, 291, and 288 for a three-under-par finish of 861, while three of their players—Felix Kvarnstrom (213; -3), Carlos Bustos (214; -2) and Tomas Gana (215; -1)—cracked a top-five finish individually.
The Individual Medalist proved the Argonauts' Christian Bosso, who shot a 70-73-66—209; -7 to lead his team to a third-place finish.
The Seawolves return to action next Monday at Waikoloa Kings' Golf Course in Waikoloa Village, Hawai'i for the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate October 29-31.
