BORREGO SPRINGS, CALIF.- Sonoma State Men's Golf finished up the Battle in the Desert hosted by Cal State San Bernardino with a top 10 team finish and another solid outing from Ivan Sablan.
Sablan, coming off a top 10 individual finish at the Fujikura Invitational earlier in the month, was able to finish in 16th place amongst a strong field thanks to shooting one under par for the duration of the three day tournament. Sablan was able to finish the tournament with 12 birdies, an eagle and managed to shoot on par or better on 42 holes.
Freshman Cambron Nevill had a solid tournament as well finishing as the second highest ranked Seawolf. Nevill was outstanding on the final day of play shooting three under par thanks to a big time eagle on the seventh hole and only had two bogeys across 18 holes of golf. It was a strong performance by the freshman who improved his play on each consecutive day.
Overall it was a solid showing from the Seawolves who have mixed a young team with veteran returners and played some very solid rounds of golf. The boys will be back on the green next week at the Nighthawk Invitational in Pleasanton, California.
