ROHNERT PARK, Calif. -- On Saturday the 2018 Sonoma State Men's Tennis team kicked off their season against Division I school University of Nevada. When the Seawolves play a Division I school, they play the match with Division I rules. Usually in a Division II match, each matchup gets a point for the final score, however in Division I whoever wins two of the three doubles matches receives one point, with the remaining six points being decided in singles play.
The Seawolves lost the match 6-1 and fall to 0-1 for the year. University of Nevada improves to 3-0 on the year.
Today's match marked the first game for the new Sonoma State Coach
Jose Hilla, who was hired over the summer to coach the men's team.
The Seawolves battled with the Wolf Pack. In four of the six singles matches, the Seawolves fought the first set to the tie breaking game.
Nate Oppenheim almost pulled the upset in singles 1 match as he fought his opponent to three sets (7-6, 2-6, 6-4).
Alec Wong was the only successful Seawolf today with his singles 6 victory (6-4, 6-4) over Dylan Levitt.
The Seawolves look to bounce back from the loss tomorrow when they take on the Hawks of Holy Names. First serve will be served at 10am.
