In a sport where every athlete counts, the Seawolves faced a tough battle going into the 6k race with only 6 runners. The Seawolves however, are not new to dealing with adversity and came out strong. The team finished 8th with 208 points in San Fransisco State's home invitational.
Finishing first for the pack was captain, junior Gina Rowley, who smiled her way through the 3.72 mile course and ran herself into a top 30 finish with a time of 24:24.12. Followed by Ashley Mendenhall in 45th (25:19.63) and Rachel Spektor in 52nd (25:39.54), the Seawolves had 3 of their 6 girls finish in the first half of the field of over 100 competitors. Closely behind, Taylor Towne in 64th (26:24.25), Amanda Lewis in 66th (26:57.45), and Nicole Gorczyca in 80th (28:38.26), rounded out the remainder of the SSU squad.
With the CCAA Championships only 2 weeks away the team is excited and looking forward to their next race at the Santa Clara Invitational in Sunnyvale, CA next weekend.
