BOX SCORE 2 Rohnert Park, Calif. – Sonoma State dropped two to Cal State East Bay on Friday, falling 9-8 in game one (ten innings) and 4-2 in game two.
The Seawolves are now 21-20 on the season and 19-17 in the CCAA.
Game Two of Series: Cal State East Bay 9, Sonoma State 8
Kory Brown went 3-for-5 at the plate with a pair of RBIs and Josh Lenney went 3-for-4 bringing a run across the plate.
Following a scoreless first inning, the Pioneers capitalized on several Seawolf errors to take a solid 4-0 lead.
Sonoma State stepped up and cut its deficit in half 4-2 with an RBI double by Lenney and scoring off a wild pitch.
The Pioneers added two runs in the fourth with an RBI double and an RBI single, extending its lead to 6-2.
In the bottom of the fourth Seawolves got within one run of Cal State East Bay 6-5, when
Dan Deely singled through the left side to score Lenney. With bases loaded Bryce scored when
James Harwell drew a walk,
Matt Hill then singled through to center to score
Joshua Medina.
The Seawolves tied the game 6-6 off a fielder's choice hit by
Bryce Vitt in the fifth, then Sonoma State claimed its first lead of the day with a two-run RBI single up the middle by
Kory Brown.
In the ninth, the Pioneers tied the game once again, with an RBI single to left field.
Cal State East Bay scored the game-winning run off a sacrifice fly ball to right field to win 9-8.
Game Three of Series: Cal State East Bay 4, Sonoma State 2
The Seawolves Zachary Guardino knocked the first run of the game with an RBI single up the middle to score Harwell.
Cal State East Bay then tied the game in their next at-bats with a solo home run over left.
A three-run sixth inning put the Pioneers up 4-1 over the Seawolves with back-to-back singles hit to right field.
Harwell's RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the seventh was not enough for a comeback as the Seawolves dropped its second game of the day.
