SUNNYVALE, CALIF. - On Saturday October 16th the Sonoma State women's cross country team headed to Santa Clara to compete in their final race of the 2021 regular season. The Seawolves have recorded two top-10 team finishes this fall at the Cougar Challenge in San Marcos and at the Pacific Invitational where they recorded their best team finish of the season, 5th place out of 9 teams. At this weekend's Bronco Invitational SSU finished in 12th place in the women's 6k event.
Sara Wenger would lead the way for the Seawolves as she would record a new personal best in the 6k event coming in at 24:37.2 finishing in the top-50 individually. Her previous best came at the Pacific Invitational just two weeks prior.
Alex Doyle (28:45.0), Zoë Baker-Cohn (30:10.6),
Mia Oggenfuss (31:39.3), and
Amber Lanza (33:35.8) would all follow for Sonoma State to conclude the race.
With second year head coach
David Lawrence Jr. at the helm, the Seawolves have had their share of highs this season as they have recorded two top-10 team finishes and freshman
Alex Boyle made history by placing second on SSU's all-time 6k list with a time of 22:13.1. Boyle also recorded her best finish of the season weeks ago at the Pacific Invitational where she placed 9th overall and was the Seawolves best finisher of the 2021 season so far.
