SAN MARCOS, CALIF. - On Saturday September 25h, the Sonoma State cross country team headed down south for the weekend to compete in the Cougar Challenge held by Cal State San Marcos. This race would act as a CCAA Championship preview as San Marcos will play host for the 2021 season championships later this fall.
Freshman
Alex Boyle would continue her terrific start to the 2021 fall campaign as she ran the number ten all-time 6k mark on any course in Sonoma State athletics history! Boyle moved into the top-10 on the Seawolves all-time list on Saturday as she finished with a time of 22:13.1. Boyle sits behind Jasmine Cassillas who holds the 9th place spot with a time of 22:11 which she recorded back in 2016 at the Humboldt State Invitational.
Head coach
David Lawrence Jr. and his team would finish 6th out of 8 participating CCAA schools and 10th overall out of 14 teams. A day of personal records would continue as freshman
Sophie Rodriguez ran a seasons best of 23:15.1.
Maddy Petersen would follow with a 23:31.3,
Abby Ribet recorded a 23:35.7,
Sara Wenger finished with a 24:37.4 and
Natalie Gonzalez came in at 24:56.5 to round out the group.
The Seawolves return to action next weekend where they will travel to Lodi, Calif. and compete in the Pacific Invite hosted by University of Pacific.
