MSOC: Sean Rohane Earns Second All-CCAA Selection, Named to 2022 First Team

ROHNERT PARK, CALIF. - On Wednesday, November 2nd, the 2022 All-CCAA men's soccer teams were released with two Seawolves highlighting the list. Junior midfielder Sean Rohane would earn his second all-conference selection in back-to-back seasons and be named to the All-CCAA First Team this season for the first time in his career. Fellow midfielder and senior Ulysses Vega would be named to his first all-conference team in his SSU career and earn Honorable Mention accolades.

After having a career season last year good for an all-conference second team selection, Sean Rohane would follow up with another solid year as he proved to be one of the most talented midfielders in the conference. Rohane added two goals and an assist to his resume this season as the San Diego native played and started in 16 games for the Seawolves. His season high came just a couple weeks ago in a must win scenario versus Cal State San Marcos. Rohane would convert a fabulous free kick in what would end up as the game winning goal in a clutch 2-0 victory to keep their postseason hopes alive.

Rohane ranks 6th on the team in minutes played and third on the team with 27 shots. His efforts in the midfield this season have willed Sonoma State to a semifinal matchup with Cal State LA this Friday after he contributed to a 110 minute shutout to upset Cal Poly Pomona in penalties in the first round.

Rounding out the All-CCAA selections for SSU is senior midfielder Ulysses Vega. Vega stormed on the scene as a freshman for the Seawolves back in 2018. He would play in 16 games as a vital piece off the bench and record over 1,000 minutes of action. His three goals and two assists in 2019 would allow him to be named to the all-conference second team, his first all-conference selection of his career.

After recovering from injury in 2021, Vega would cap off his senior season with a near identical season to his 2021 campaign and record three goals and two assists, good for top-2 on the team in both categories. His season high came early in the season in a non-conference matchup against Dominican. Vega would hammer home a wonderful free kick to give SSU an early 1-0 lead in the first half. After the Penguins tied the game up nearly two minutes later, Vega would step up and convert a clutch penalty kick in the 77th minute to go down as the game winner in a thrilling home matchup. Vega captures his second all-conference selection of his Seawolf career.

The Seawolves 2022 season is not done yet though as they will take on the 7th ranked team in the nation and defending national champions Cal State LA in the semifinals of the conference tournament this Friday. After upsetting Cal Poly Pomona last weekend in the first round, they earned themselves a spot in the final four and will take on the Golden Eagles on Friday, November 4th, at 11:30 AM.

For traveling Seawolf fans, the contest will be played on the campus of Cal State San Bernardino as they represent the tournament host institution. All game times, ticket links, live stats, and other tournament information can be found at sonomaseawolves.com on the men's soccer schedule page.
