ROHNERT PARK, CALIF. - On Wednesday, August 23rd the annual CCAA preseason coaches poll was released with Sonoma State picked to finish second out of the 12 member institutions ahead of the 2023 season. After securing their third straight league title in 2022, the Seawolves have proven to be one of the most successful soccer programs in the west region as they made their 7th straight NCAA Tournament appearance last season.
Head coach
Emiria Salzmann has put together an impressive resume in her 12 years leading the program, securing ten NCAA regional appearances and four CCAA regular season titles. With the team's 7-2-2 conference record last season, Salzmann also earned her third CCAA Coach of the Year award, one of four individual awards taken home by SSU.
Sonoma State returns four of their seven all-conference selections from 2022 including the conference Freshman of the Year in
Annette Sotelo as well as First Team selection
Malia Falk. The team will kick off their 2023 non-conference schedule at home on Thursday, August 31st against Colorado Springs.
