ROHNERT PARK, CALIF. - Sonoma State's
Annette Sotelo has been named Pixellot/CCAA Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, for the week of Sept. 4-10.
Sotelo netted three scores as Sonoma State went 1-1 against PacWest opponents. The sophomore midfielder scored twice on Thursday in a 6-3 shootout versus Azusa Pacific. Sotelo, who is from San Marcos, followed that act by knocking in the game-winner in Saturday's 1-0 win over Biola. In two matches, she took seven shots with five on frame.
Against APU, the 2022 CCAA Freshman of the Year scored in the 11th minute to tie the match at 1-1. She then scored the 2-2 equalizer in the 29th minute. SSU was ahead 3-2 in the second half before the Cougars scored four unanswered goals in the 6-3 decision. Saturday versus Biola, Sotelo kicked in the only score of the match, in the 56th minute.
This would be Sotelo's second career CCAA Player of the Week award. She received the honor last Sept. 7 with a three-goal performance.
Sonoma State (1-1-1) next plays in a non-conference match on Wednesday at Dominican.
