ST. PAUL, Minn. - On Friday, September 22nd, the Sonoma State cross country team traveled to the midwest to compete in their biggest meet of the season. Head coach

Gianna Bomarito would rise to the occasion once again and go on to win the women's maroon 6k event with a time of 21:44.2. Bomarito continues to rewrite the record books as she has now won back-to-back events for the Seawolves and wins her third race of her collegiate career. Bomarito also became the first ever California runner to win the Roy Griak Invitational in the 37 year history of the event.
Joining Bomarito in Friday's race were teammates
Liliana Salado,
Abby Ribet,
Sophie Rodriguez and
Maddy Petersen. Salado was the only other SSU runner to crack the top-100 as she recorded a time of 24:30.8. Ribet and Rodriguez followed for the Seawolves with Petersen rounding out the group with a time of 26:35.3. The entire group for the Seawolves would race in their first 6k event of the season. Ribet, Rodriguez and Petersen all competed in their third straight event for SSU with the prior two events coming in the 5k.
As a team, Sonoma State finished 16th and represented the top CCAA school in attendance, placing ahead of bay area member San Francisco State. SSU will finish out their regular season at the San Francisco State Invite on Friday, October 6th. The event will be the team's final tune-up before the CCAA Championships on October 21st.
