AMARILLO, TEXAS- Sonoma State Women's Golf got the chance to officially tee off their fall schedule at the WT D2 West Regional Preview in Texas. The Seawolves feature a roster that brings a great mix of veteran upperclassmen and new freshman faces. With their first tournament now under their belt, the team is poised to build on this momentum for the remainder of their season!
Leading the way was junior Avery Foster who put together a strong three rounds of golf. Foster secured a sixth place individual finish for the weekend with her play only improving each round. On the first day she posted a four over par mark. She followed that up on day two by shooting two over par. By the final round of play Foster was one stroke under par and submitted the best individual performance in round three.
The freshman pair of Railee Crosby and Avery Kraatz made their college debuts as well. Crosby opened up with a decent eight over par performance on day one. She really found her rhythm on day two by dropping her score by two strokes. Kraatz also played well on day two with a tournament best nine over par performance.
Rounding out the Seawolves lineup were Talia Gutman and Lauren Garcia. These two will be looked to fill leadership roles for a team full of young talent.
Up next for the Seawolves will be a tournament on familiar ground. Starting on October 6th the team will host the Sonoma State Fall Invitational held at Foxtail Golf Club. The tournament will run from October 6th through the 8th.
