Men’s Golf Claims Fourth Place at Otter Invitational

SEASIDE, CALIF.- After a few days off Sonoma State Men's Golf was back on the greens, this time competing at the Otter Invitational down along the coast. It was a crowded field with over 100 players representing 20 different programs. It was a solid showing from the Seawolves who now turn their attention to a pair of tournaments in Hawaii!

As has been the case for much of the 2024 fall season, Colin Huang led the team as the Seawolves top individual player. Across three days of play Huang finished shooting on par. He was able to put together a strong last day of play going underpar to climb up the leaderboards and secure sixth place. Thanks to 14 birdies over the course of 54 holes, Huang has positioned himself well as the top option for the Seawolves this year.

Finishing in a tie for 21st was the duo of Ryan Steward and Ivan Sablan. Sablan played the single best round of the tournament for the team with a stellar day one performance. Across the first nine holes of the tournament he was exactly on par, on the back nine he picked up his play with four birdies to shoot a 69 on day one. While Stewart didn't have the singular dominant day that Sablan had, he was incredibly consistent shooting 75 on day one and then posting a pair of 73 scores on the final two days of play.

The last Seawolf to crack the top 25 was newcomer Robby Keich. It was a slow start for Keich during the first two rounds but he picked up his play on the final 18 holes. On the last day of play Keich had his best round with a score of 70. He was steady throughout with three birdies and 14 holes of being on par.

The last Seawolf of the tournament was Cambron Nevill. The freshman out of Bodega, California was able to finish in 39th place. It was a solid debut for the first year player who will likely build upon this throughout the year.

The final fall tournaments are right around the corner. They will spend upwards of a week in Hawaii as they compete in both the Dennis Rose Invitational in Waimea and the HPU Sharks Shootout in Waikoloa Village.
