Men’s Golf Claims 2nd Place at Dennis Rose Invitational

KOHALA COAST, HAWAII- Sonoma State Men's Golf wrapped up the Dennis Rose Invitational at the Mauna Lani North Course to kickstart a week-long stay on the Hawaii islands. With 19 teams and over 100 participants teeing off,the Seawolves put together their best performance of the fall season en route to claiming second place as a team with multiple individuals finishing among the top 15.

The Seawolves top two players of the tournament were Ivan Sablan and Colin Huang. The duo would be separated by a single stroke with Sablan taking fourth place and Huang securing sixth. Sablan was solid in round one finishing one stroke under par. Yet, it would be his day two performance that saw him skyrocket 12 places up the leaderboard to move into the top five. Thanks to seven round two birdies, Sablan would be the top finisher for his team. Huang was swing for swing with Sablan for much of the tournament. He had an outstanding first day on the course shooting four underpar through the first 18 holes. Huang was dialed in all tournament long with only two bogeys despite playing 36 total holes.

Robby Keich also made a big move up the leaderboards on day two as he climbed 13 spots to get into the top 15. Keich was one over par after his first day of play. Thankfully, that did not rattle the junior out of Newport Beach. Keich's experience and composure were on full display as he rallied to play a great second round of golf. Thanks to five birdies and only a single bogey, Keich was three under par for day two.

Joseph Sotelo and Ryan Stewart rounded out the Seawolves five man rotation. Sotelo made his debut for the Seawolves and tied for 24th place. After shooting one over on day one he was able to get under par on the second day of play. For the tournament he posted a 144 total score, good to draw even as an individual. Stewart finished the two days of golf with five birdies.

The boys Hawaii road trip continues with them now turning their attention to the HPU Sharks Shootout which will begin on the 25th at the Waikoloa Golf Resort Beach/Lakes Courses.
