SAN MARCOS, CALIF. - On Tuesday, February 13th, the Sonoma State men's golf team kicked off their spring campaign at the annual Fujikura Invitational hosted by fellow CCAA member Cal State San Marcos. They would post their lowest team score in the second round on Monday to climb into the top ten but fall to 11th place after the final round on Tuesday, finishing the three round event 28-over-par.
Colin Huang and
Cole Kroeker would lead the Seawolves with top-30 finishes as both finished 5-over-par in their three rounds of action. Huang recorded the team's lone round under par on Tuesday allowing him to jump eleven spots on the individual leaderboard and propel him into a tie with Kroeker. He would record three birdies on the day and finish 1-under-par.
Despite a tough final round, third year member
Nick Friedman was just 2-over-par after the first two rounds and recorded a team high four birdies in round two on Monday. He would finish the tournament in a tie for 43rd place.
Ryan Stewart and
Ivan Sablan rounded out the group for the Seawolves, Stewart at +13 and Sablan at +22 in their three rounds of action. Kroeker would record the low round of the tournament for SSU finishing 2-under-par in his second round on Monday which included four birdies and a bogey free back nine.
