BORREGO SPRINGS, CALIF. - On Wednesday, February 28th, the Sonoma State men's golf team finished their three round event in Southern California at the Battle in the Desert.
Cole Kroeker would lead the way for the Seawolves with his second top-10 finish of the year, finishing the week just 1-under-par good for 8th place individually.
Colin Huang and
Lucas Happy would each make moves up the player leaderboard on Wednesday with Huang putting together a 1-over-par final round and Happy at even par. Back-to-back rounds of 291 (+3) would propel SSU five spots up the leaderboard from their position after the first round on Monday. Four year veteran
Nick Friedman was the fourth counting score for the Seawolves on Wednesday as he bounced back after a couple of tough opening rounds to record a 76 (+4) with just one bogey on the day.
After starting out 2-over-par in his opening round, Kroeker cracked the top-10 with back-to-back rounds under par on Tuesday and Wednesday. Kroeker recorded a team low 70 (-2) in his second round which included five birdies. He would finish with a final round of 1-under-par and another five birdies to solidify his 8th place finish. Also aiding the charge in the team's surge on Tuesday was Petaluma native
Ryan Stewart. Stewart had a nearly flawless round, recording just two birdies and 16 pars. He would lead the entire field after all three rounds with 40 pars.
