Softball Sweeps Chaminade In Tuesday Twinbill

Nikki Freiberg collected four hits and three runs batted in on Tuesday
ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  The Sonoma State softball team banged out 24 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Chaminade on Tuesday afternoon in Rohnert Park.  The Seawolves won by scores of 3-0 and 6-2 to improve to 13-21 on the season.  The Silverswords drop to 9-26.

Brittany Williams tossed a two-hit shutout in game one to improve to 6-9 on the season.  SSU opened up the scoring in the third inning when Williams helped herself out with an RBI single that scored Simone Brandalise.  The Seawolves tacked on two more runs in the fifth on a Nikki Freiberg two-run double.

Williams struck out five and allowed three walks in the win.  Danie Lopez, Brandalise, Williams, and Freiberg all had two hits to pace the Seawolves.  Chelsi Walls earned the loss for the Silverswords.

Chaminade got out to a fast start in game two, scoring twice in the first on RBI singles by Brandi Sasaki and Chasity Senas.  That's all the offense they'd be able to muster off Seawolf starter Simone Brandalise.  After the shaky first inning, Brandalise calmed down and allowed no runs over the final six innings to pick up her fifth win of the season.

SSU cut the 2-0 Chaminade lead in half in the bottom of the first on a Jesse Talaugon sac fly.  They overtook the Silverswords in the third on RBIs by Freiberg and Carli Feuerbach

Lopez, Kayla Ledford, Brandalise, and Freiberg all had two hits to lead the Seawolves.

Keli Saniatan and and Carolyn Fisher each had two hits for Chaminade.  Fisher was the losing pitcher, allowing six runs, four of them earned, in six innings.

The Seawolves return to action this Friday when they open a four-game CCAA series at San Francisco State.
