LOS ANGELES, Calif- The Sonoma State women's basketball team balanced their overall record at 8-8 on Friday evening with a 58-48 win over Cal State L.A. at the Eagles Nest in Los Angeles. The Seawolves improve to 4-5 in CCAA play with their third consecutive win. The Golden Eagles drop to 2-14, 1-8 CCAA on the season.
Lauren Redfield paced the Sonoma attack with a game-high 17 points.
Stephanie Barnes had 11 points and nine rebounds and
Olivia Larkin pumped in 11 points and four boards.
Shatori Dearman recorded a double-double for the Golden Eagles with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite committing 20 turnovers on the night, the Seawolves sported a strong defense, forcing 24 CSULA miscues. Both teams struggled from the charity stripe with Sonoma connecting on 14-of-23 and the Golden Eagles on 10-of-20.
Sonoma State took the lead for good at 10-9 on a three-pointer by Redfield midway through the first half. They would eventually build a ten-point lead before going into the half up 23-19.
Cal State L.A. would tie the game at 25 early in the second half, and they'd stay tight for most of the game, but they were never be able to catch the Seawolves.
The Seawolves will try to go back on the right side of .500 on Saturday when they face Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson.
