SEASIDE, Calif- Left for dead a week ago, the Sonoma State men's basketball team turned in their second straight inspired performance, knocking off a tough Cal State Monterey Bay squad in their own gym, 81-72 on Saturday evening in Seaside. The Seawolves move into a tie for eighth place in the conference at 9-12, 5-9 CCAA. The Otters drop to 13-8, 7-7 CCAA.
The Seawolves got another big night from junior
Casey McRoberts, who scored 20 points to lead the team in scoring for the third straight game. McRoberts was 7-of-11 from the field and 4-of-6 from three-point territory.
The Seawolves led for virtually the entire game, opening up a ten-point halftime lead (42-32) and not looking back in the second. The Otters would pull to within five late in the second half, but the Seawolves surged again to put the game away.
Curtis Harrison (11) and
James Sandoval (10) joined McRoberts in double figures.
Kyle Shandera enjoyed his finest outing of the season with six points and eight rebounds.
Steven Pratt was tops in the game with a career-high five assists.
Steve Monreal had 23 points to lead Cal State Monterey Bay. Dante Green added 16 points and Joe Mitchell neared a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.
The Seawolves will try to keep their momentum going next weekend when they host Cal State Stanislaus and Chico State.
