Emmel Pitches Seawolves Past Otters, 3-0

Lindsay Emmel picked up her fourth win of the season on Friday
ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Behind a stellar outing from senior Lindsay Emmel, Sonoma State made it an opening day sweep at the Seawolf Invitational with a 3-0 victory over Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday.  Emmel allowed just three hits to earn her second victory of the day.  The Seawolves improve to 10-12 while the Otters drop to 13-12-1.

Emmel carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning before it was broken up on a single by Jamie Moon.  The Atascadero native finished the day with seven strikeouts, two walks, and just three hits allowed.

The Seawolves would get all of their runs in the sixth inning.  After a bunt single by Janelle Arnold, Simon Brandalise doubled to put two runners on.  The next batter, Brittany Martinez, proceeded to double to left, scoring both.  The final run was scored by Ashley Sardina on an Ashley Britton grounder that was muffed by the defense.

The Seawolves finished the game with five hits, each by a different player.  The losing pitcher for CSUMB was Jessica Boyle, who allowed five hits and three runs, just two of them earned, in 5 1/3 innings.

The Seawolves are done for the day, but Cal State Monterey Bay is back at it in the next game, against Chico State.
