ROHNERT PARK, Calif- Sonoma State's
Lindsay Emmel tossed her second shutout in as many days to lead Sonoma State to a 7-0 win over Grand Canyon on Saturday afternoon at the Seawolf Invitational in Rohnert Park. The Seawolves win their fourth straight at the tournament and even their overall record at 12-12 on the season. The Antelopes, on the other hand, lose their fourth straight and fall to 20-12.
Emmel has played a huge part in the Seawolves' tournament success, tallying three wins and a save in their four victories. The senior allowed just three hits and two walks while striking out seven.
The Seawolves picked up all the runs they would end up needing in the third inning when
Kayla Ledford doubled home two and then scored on a
Simone Brandalise double.
Four more runs crossed in the fifth and again Ledford was in the middle of it, doubling home the first run. Two subsequent runs would score on a GCU error and the final tally came on a
Skylynn Myers RBI single.
Ledford finished her day 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs.
Janelle Arnold was 2-for-2 with two runs and Brandalise finished 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
Natasha Dypchey got the loss for the Antelopes.
The Seawolves will conclude tournament play on Sunday against Chico State and Cal State Monterey Bay.
