Baseball Finishes Off Four-Game Sweep Of SFSU

Gary Moran struck out nine in a sparkling five-inning start
ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Gary Moran struck out nine over five innings and Leo Avila had three hits as Sonoma State finished off a three-game sweep of San Francisco State with a 7-1 win on Sunday afternoon in Rohnert Park.  The Seawolves improve to 19-6, 12-6 CCAA while the Gators drop to 6-20, 2-18 CCAA.

Moran was simply brilliant, striking out nine and allowing just two hits to earn his fourth win of the season.  Brian Flint, Thomas Lee, and Kenny Cook finished off the final four innings.

Held scoreless through three innings, the Seawolves broke through in the fourth inning when Kyle Jones trotted home on a passed ball.  The lead was pushed to 3-0 when Avila double home a run with his second two-bagger of the game, and Joe Slater brought in a run with a sacrifice fly.

Jacob Fiss drove home two more runs in the sixth to effectively put the game out of reach.  The Gators would pick up one run in the sixth on an RBI groundout by Jeff Memeo.

The Seawolves are on the road next weekend at Cal Poly Pomona.
