POMONA, Calif-
Cameron Cook pounded out four hits on Saturday as Sonoma State earned a doubleheader split with Cal Poly Pomona at Scolinos Field in Pomona. The Seawolves won game one 6-4 behind a strong effort from
Gary Moran, only to fall in the nightcap, 7-6. The Seawolves are now 20-8, 13-8 CCAA on the season.
Moran struck out seven and didn't allow a walk over seven innings to pick up his fifth victory of the season.
Taylor Lewis pitched the final two innings.
The Seawolves got two runs in the fourth on RBI singles by
Kris Haycock and
Ian Bridges. A four-run fourth inning, highlighted by five walks and a pair of RBI singles, pushed the lead to 6-1. Haycock finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Cook was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
The Seawolves led in game two, 4-2 after two, only to see the Broncos come back in the late innings, completing the comeback with a solo walk-off home run from Nick Tanos. Cook was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and
Kendall Davis pitched well.
The series concludes on Sunday with a single game.
