Ally Sather and
Keala Peterson combined for 30 of Sonoma State's 46 kills as the Seawolves swept Central Washington (25-19, 25-17, 25-14) to take the 2009 Seawolf Spike crown in women's volleyball action Saturday evening in The Wolves' Den.
Sather's weekend debut for the Seawolves was nothing short of dominating, as the true freshman pounded out 58 kills over the four-match tournament, including 17 against the Wildcats. Peterson, a sophomore transfer this season, added 52 hammers, helping Sonoma State to a perfect 4-0 record to start the season.

Lindsay Brown had a game-high 38 assists as senior
Ali Walker and sophomore
Taylor Krenwinkel had 16 digs each, with Peterson adding 14 of her own.
Erin Norris led Central Washington with 10 kills and Brandie Vea added 31 digs.
The Seawolves (4-0) led the tournament in hitting percentage (.277) and service aces (36). Senior
Rikki Buckshnis had 31 kills in 64 attempts and just two errors (.453) for the second-highest hitting percentage in the tournament.
Brown earned the 2009 Seawolf Spike Most Valuable Player award, as voted on by coaches and media representatives. Sather was named to the all-tournament team as well. Cammy Dranginis (Northwest Nazarene), Mackenzie Snyder (Chico State), Halimah Oswald (San Francisco State), Erin Norris (Central Washington) and Gillian Heydorff (Chico State) also earned all-tournament honors.

Sonoma State will travel to Ellensburg, Wash. next weekend for the CWU Invitational to take on BYU-Hawaii, Seattle Pacific, Evergreen State and Western Washington.
