SANTA ROSA, Calif- Members of the Sonoma State women's soccer team partnered with the Rincon Valley Youth Soccer League last weekend for the opening festivities put on by league officials and volunteers in Santa Rosa.

With the help of Seawolves coaches and players, the Rincon Valley Youth Soccer League sponsored several activities in conjunction with opening weekend for each of the youth league teams.

"It was great to get out there in the community and help out as much as we could," head coach Luke Oberkirch said. "We want to have more of a presence in the community and it was great to be a part of it (last weekend)."

Several activities including a parade into the event with each of the teams participating, inflatable jumping units, a dunk tank and a barbeque for all in attendance outlined the day. The Seawolves were on hand to pass out women's soccer t-shirts, refrigerator schedule magnets and to talk with members of the community as well as to interact with the kids.

"Some of the teams came to support us this summer by attending our camps so for us to go support them by being there and interacting with the kids and the community, it was fantastic to see," Oberkirch added. "Our girls had a great time out there and it was fun to see the excitement on the kids' faces."
