Ally Sather combined for 27 kills as the No. 24 ranked Seawolves cruised to another three-set victory Thursday, this time against Seattle Pacific (25-15, 25-19, 25-11) to improve to a unblemished 6-0 record -- the best start since 2001. The Falcons stumbled to 2-5.
Peterson's 14 kills and Sather's 13 paced a torrid Seawolves offense Thursday night in which they hit .380 as a team (48 kills, 10 errors in 100 attacks). Senior
Sarah Illingworth was almost perfect on offense, hammering down six kills in just seven attacks at a blistering .857 hitting percentage. Seniors
Lindsay Brown,
Ali Walker and
Rikki Buckshnis each added five kills for Sonoma State in the nightcap.
Brown scattered the ball around, handing out a game-high 33 assists. Sophomore
Taylor Krenwinkel and Walker had 18 and 14 digs, respectively, to lead a defense that only allowed the Falcons to hit at a dismal .157 clip.
Seattle Pacific's Sarah Risser had 11 kills to lead the Falcons.
Sonoma State will wrap up its non-conference schedule tomorrow afternoon at the CWU Invitational with a pair of games against Evergreen State (1 p.m.) and No. 21 ranked Western Washington (5 p.m.). The Seawolves will then return home to open up California Collegiate Athletic Association play against Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sept. 10 at The Wolves' Den.

Hot Hitting Seawolves Sweep BYU-Hawaii
ELLENSBURG, Wash- Sonoma State freshman
Ally Sather had eight of her game-high 15 kills in the third set to lead the No. 24 Seawolves to a 3-0 sweep of BYU-Hawaii (25-11, 25-17, 25-13) on Thursday afternoon at the CWU Invitational in Ellensburg, Wash. The Seawolves improved to a perfect 5-0 this season as the Seasiders suffered their first loss of the season, falling to 3-1.
Sonoma State, ranked 24th in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll, jumped out to a quick 12-2 lead in set one and eventually cruised to the 25-11 victory with the help of
Lindsay Brown and Sather, who had four kills each.
In set two, BYU-Hawaii held Sonoma State to just a .147 hitting percentage but the Seasiders didn't hit any better (.091) and the Seawolves, despite four ties and two lead changes, took the second set 25-17.
The Seawolves regained their offensive momentum in the third and final set with the help of Sather's eight kills and closed out the match with a 25-13 set victory.
