LOS ANGELES, Calif- Freshman 
Taylor Vigil scored a career-high 15 points and Sonoma State's defense held Cal State L.A. to a season-low in points and field goal percentage en route to a 52-36 victory over the Golden Eagles on Friday night at the Eagles Nest in Los Angeles. The Seawolves even their overall record to 9-9 and move to one game above .500 in the conference standings at 7-6. The Golden Eagles stumble to 4-14 and 2-11 in the CCAA.
Cal State L.A. struggled from the floor all evening long, shooting just 24.4 percent from the field on 11-of-45 -- the third worst shooting performance in the California Collegiate Athletic Association this season. The Golden Eagles also attempted a season-high 23 shots from beyond the three-point arc but only netted four of them (17.4 percent).
Vigil scored her career-high coming off the bench in 19 minutes of play on 5-of-7 shooting including two three-pointers. She added four steals as well. Sophomore 
Jaclyn Bisordi recorded 12 points on the night, her fifth game this season scoring in double-figures and senior 
Stephanie Barnes grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.
The Golden Eagles grabbed a 6-0 lead early in the ball game on back-to-back three-pointers by Jameiz Terrell but the Seawolves came back to take a 12-9 lead with just under nine minutes remaining in the opening period. A layup by Shatori Dearman put Cal State L.A. within one at 12-11 but remained scoreless over the next 7:40, allowing Sonoma State to take a slight six point advantage at 18-11. A three-ball by Brionna Baker ended the CSULA scoring drought but Sonoma State took a six point lead into halftime at a 20-14 count.
In the second half, Bisordi gave the Seawolves an eight-point lead with a three-pointer of her own but Terrell converted three points at the free throw line to come within three points at 27-24 with 15:39 to play. However,  both teams went back and forth until the Golden Eagles fell cold from the field again and went just over five minutes without scoring a point. It allowed Sonoma State to pull away and take the 52-36 win.
Jazzi Johnson led Cal State L.A. with 12 points and brought down nine rebounds. Jordan Kuzma grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds before fouling out with just one point. Sonoma State forced 23 CSULA turnovers while the Seawolves made 20 mistakes.
Sonoma State will return to the hardwood on Saturday when they take on Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson at the Torodome. The Seawolves and Toros will tip off at 5:30 p.m., then SSU will return home for its final homestand of the 2009-10 season.
