Aly Conway led all players in points and rebounds during Saturday's win.
ARCATA, Calif- Junior Aly Conway dropped in a career-high 20 points and corralled seven rebouds as Sonoma State drained 54.7 percent from the floor, helping the Seawolves to a 73-65 victory in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opener over Humboldt State on Saturday evening at Lumberjack Arena. Sonoma State remains perfect this season at 3-0 (1-0 CCAA) and Humboldt State falls to 1-2 (0-1 CCAA).

Conway led all players with 20 points and seven rebounds in the contest, misfiring on just one of nine shots she took all evening. She led the Seawolves, who had three others score in double-figures. Aly Henington chipped in 14 points, while Jaclyn Bisordi and Elizabeth Day added 10.

The Seawolves hit 29 of the 53 shots they took, including 4-of-10 from beyond the three point line. SSU led in virtually every statistical category, however, Humboldt State drained 10 three pointers.

Both teams were even at 16 with 13 minutes remaining in the opening half until the Seawolves went on a 13-1 run over the next four minutes to take a 29-17 lead. The host Lumberjacks kept chipping away at the lead from the point on and trailed just five points at halftime, a 42-37 advantage in favor of the Seawolves.

Humboldt State then came out and tied the game up at 42, but Sonoma State went on a 9-2 run and never looked back. The Lumberjacks were unable to overcome the deficit, despite making a couple of runs near the end of the game, and the Seawolves secured their third straight win to open the 2010-11 campaign.

Sonoma State will travel to Turlock on Friday to take on Cal State Stanislaus and then to Chico on Saturday to face Chico State before returning home in two weeks to host the CCAA/GNAC Challenge in Rohnert Park on Dec. 10-11.
