SANTA BARBARA, Calif- After a 14-10 loss to WWPA-rival UC San Diego earlier in the day, Sonoma State went looking for the elusive win at the UCSB Winter Invitational. In the fourth and final game of the weekend, the Seawolves found it, knocking off Vanguard, 12-8, at the Recreation Center Pool in Santa Barbara on Sunday. The win snaps a six-match losing streak for Sonoma State, as it improves to 2-6 overall.
In the opening game of day two at the UCSB Invite, two WWPA opponents faced off against each other, marking the first conference match for both Sonoma State and UC San Diego. The Tritons got off to a fast start, leading 5-1 after the first period and 12-6 at halftime. The Seawolves would come back, though, to trail by just 13-10 after three quarters of play, but UCSD added an insurance goal and held SS scoreless in the final period to grab the conference victory.
Laura Kunz had a big game for Sonoma State, scoring four of the 10 Seawolf goals.

First sprint is set for 3 p.m.
