Claremont, CA - After taking 3 of 4 last weekend in a 4-game round robin in SoCal, the Seawolves traveled back down to Los Angeles for the Convergence Tournament for another four matches looking for a weekend sweep! Sonoma started off the weekend against University of La Verne. After a close first period, the Seawolves went on a tear offensively and scored 5 goals in 2 of the next 3 quarters to win 16-8. After going down 0-2 in the first, Sonoma would score 5 staright to regain control of the game.
Cassidy Mundt once again led the scoring with 3 goals and 3 steals in the match.
Annika Erickson would tack on 2 goals and an assist in the Seawolves win as well.
Next, Sonoma would take on the host team Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. After an early 7-2 lead at the half, Claremont would storm back in the fourth scoring 4 goals to bring the game . However, keeper
Brooke Sullivan would record 11 saves in the game to preserve the SSU lead late and give the Seawolves their second straight win! Senior
Jordan Williams scored a game high 5 goals on 5 shots and record 2 steals in the process in route to a 10-7 win!
Next on the list was University of Redlands where the Seawolves convincingly defeated the Bulldogs 10-3. SSU shutout the Bulldogs in 2 of the 4 quarters during the game and had 6 different players get on the score sheet.
Cassidy Mundt would once again lead her team with 4 goals on 6 shots.
Cameron Gavuzzi also put in qa pair of goals and recorded a steal for the Seawolves.
Sonoma would cap off the weekend with a gritty 2 goal win over Chapman. The Seawolves defeated Chapman the previous weekend in SoCal and secured two in a row against Chapman on Sunday evening with a 13-11 win.
Jenna Olson lead the way this time for Sonoma scoring 3 goals on a game high 8 shots. Goals came in bunches for the Seawolves as they scored 3 goals in a row and traded off with Chapman twice to end the game. Time was on Sonoma's side as Chapman ran out of time and the Seawolves claimed their fourth victory in a row and a weekend sweep!
The Seawolves return home this week on Friday evening at 4 PM to play host to McKendree University as they look to extend their winning streak and get their first home win on the season.
