Ben Washington joined exclusive company on Wednesday night.
Box Score:  Sonoma State 76, Cal State Dominguez Hills 69

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  On the night he became just the tenth student-athlete in program history to score 1,000 career points, senior Ben Washington tallied a career-high 26 in leading Sonoma State to 76-69 win over Cal State L.A. on Wednesday night at The Wolves' Den in Rohnert Park.  The win keeps the Seawolves hopes of a berth in the CCAA Championship Tournament alive as they improve to 10-15, 8-13 CCAA.  The Golden Eagles drop to 14-11, 10-11 CCAA.

Washington finished the night with 1,009 career points, becoming one of just five guards (Andrew Kochevar John Radford, Gary Gibson, Matt Boyle) in school history to accomplish the feat.  His 26 points topped the career-high 25 he scored in January's 69-61 Sonoma State win over Cal State L.A.

The Seawolves started strong on Wednesday, using an early 9-0 run to go up 13-4 in the first five minutes.  While CSULA would cut the lead to three it would grow to 12 by the end of the half, as the Seawolves entered the break on top, 38-26.

The lead would grow to as many as 17 early in the second half, at 45-28, before the Golden Eagles began their comeback.  A 7-0 run by CSULA sliced the lead to four (55-51) with 9:55 left, and after the Seawolves pulled on them a little more, they were able to cut it all the way to two at 69-67 with 1:41 left.

On the ensuing possession, Washington came up with his most meaningful points of the night as he was fouled while sinking a jumper.  His subsequent free throw pushed the lead back to five and four straight free throws by Steven Pratt and Washington down the stretch put it away for the Seawolves.

Washington's 26 points came on 7-of-12 shooting from the field and 12-of 13 accuracy from the free throw line.  He also snagged a team-high six rebounds.

Patrick Scott (13), Matthew French (12), and Sterling Arterberry (11) pitched in with double-digit scoring totals in supporting roles.  Pratt finished with four assists.

Chris Robinson led the Golden Eagles with 19 points.  Franklin Session added 15 and David Norris dropped in 13.

The Seawolves will head in to Friday's regular season finale against No. 15 Cal State Dominguez Hills needing a win and a little help to qualify for next week's CCAA Championship Tournament.  They currently trail eighth place Cal State Stanislaus (8-12) by a half game and are now one half game ahead of Cal State Monterey Bay (7-13).

Friday night will be senior night and Sonoma's five seniors- Washington, French, Mike Nelson, James Sandoval, and Mike Stornaiuolo- will be honored before the game.
