LOS ANGELES- Leading midway through the third period, the Sonoma State women's water polo team surrendered four unanswered goals to Colorado State in a three-minute span and couldn't overcome the deficit, falling 10-8 to the Rams in first game of the Loyola Marymount Invitational at the Burns Recreation and Aquatics Center in Los Angeles. The Seawolves also lost to Long Beach State, 10-2, on Friday afternoon.
Colorado State 10, Sonoma State 8
Neither Colorado State or Sonoma State would lead by more than a goal for much of the match and it was the Seawolves who led 6-5 with four minutes remaining in the third period. However, the Rams scored two goals in the final minute of the third frame and two more in the first two minutes of the fourth to take a 9-6 lead.
Jessica Stansfield would score two consecutive goals to put the Seawolves down just one point at 9-8, but a score by Natalie Berge late in regulation would cap the 10-8 victory for Colorado State.

Laura Kunz scored two goals apiece for Sonoma State while
Taylor Basso made four saves in the cage.
Long Beach State 10, Sonoma State 2
After a goal by
Lindsay Rangel to knot the match at 1-1 after four minutes of play, Long Beach State went on to score nine unanswered goals, crusing to the 10-2 win.
Rangel scored both goals for Sonoma State in the loss and
Kelsey Goode made four saves.
Sonoma State will wrap up its trip to Los Angeles after two matches on Saturday. The Seawolves will face Princeton at 11:30 a.m. and then finish the tournament with a match against Whittier at 3:15 p.m.
