Seawolves Unable To Dig Out Of Hole, Fall 16-7

Kyleigh Shea scored one of seven Sonoma State goals on Friday.
ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Cal State East Bay started out on an 8-0 run on Friday afternoon before cruising to a 16-7 victory over Sonoma State in water polo action at Dr. G Edward Rudloff Pool in Rohnert Park.  Though the Seawolves would play the Pioneers tight over the final three periods, the early deficit was just too much to overcome.

The Seawolves fall to 4-15 on the season while the Pioneers improve to 9-6.

Cal State East Bay rolled up eight goals in the first seven minutes of the game before a strike by Kyleigh Shea with eight seconds left in the frame broke the shutout.

After losing the first quarter 8-1, the Seawolves outscored the Pioneers 2-1 in the second.  CSUEB would go on to outscore Sonoma 7-4 over the final half of the game to earn their second win over the Seawolves in as many tries this year.

Sonoma State got goals from Laura Kunz, Jessica Stansfield, Monica Tasier, Bridgette Souza, and Malina Lorring, in addition to Shea. Taylor Basso played the entire game in the net, making seven saves.

The Seawolves will head out on the road to compete in the UC Davis Aggie Shootout this weekend.
