Box Score: #28 Sonoma State 7, San Francisco State 3

SAN FRANCISCO- Cameron Cook laced a two-RBI double, O'Koyea Dickson blasted a solo home run and Kenny Arnerich tossed eight outstanding innings to help lead Sonoma State to a 7-3 victory over San Francisco State on Friday at Maloney Field in San Francisco. The series-opening win improves the Seawolves to 24-11 overall and 17-11 in the CCAA. The Gators fall to 12-25 and 7-22.

The Gators put a run on the scoreboard in the first before the Seawolves countered right back in the top of the second on a RBI single by Randy Wells, scoring Kyle Jones. The 1-1 score would hold until the fourth when Sonoma State plated three runs on SFSU starter Steven Dea, including the two-RBI double by Cook.

The three-run lead wouldn't last, though, as San Francisco State came back with two runs in the bottom of the fourth on a RBI double and a RBI single to trail by just one at 4-3. However, the Seawolves would add a run in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Kyle Cerrudo that brought home Jones. Another run would come across the plate in the SSU sixth when Kevin Cramer grounded out, allowing Cook to score.

Dickson would put the exclamation point on the game with a deep fly to left field, giving Sonoma State the 7-3 lead and eventual victory.

Meanwhile, Arnerich (6-1) tossed eight innings, giving up seven hits and allowing three runs (two earned) while walking one and striking out three. He gave way to Brian Bordagaray in the ninth, as Bordagaray retired three of the four batters he faced to close out the ballgame.

Cook, Jones, Cerrudo and Wells had two hits each, accounting for eight of the ten hits by Sonoma State. The team outhit San Francisco State 10-7. Jones also led all players with three runs scored.

Will Klein had two hits and a RBI to lead the Gators offensively.

Sonoma State and San Francisco State will continue its four-game series with a doubleheader at Seawolf Diamond in Rohnert Park on Saturday. First pitch is set for 11 a.m. The two teams will then wrap up the series with a single game in San Francisco on Sunday, beginning at Noon.
