Seawolves' Offense Struggles In Loss To #15 UC Davis

DAVIS, Calif. --  The Sonoma State women's water polo team traveled to UC Davis Saturday to take on the 15th-ranked Aggies in a single non-conference match.  The Aggies proved to be the dominant team in the match, getting the win, 11-1, dropping the Seawolves to a 5-12 overall record for the season.

It was all UCD in this game, as they scored all of their 11 goals before the Seawolves put their first in the back of the cage.  The bright spot for the Seawolves was Anna O'Connell, who scored her first goal of the season and the only one of the game for Sonoma State at the 1:30 mark of the fourth quarter.

The Aggies' 11 goals came from eight different players, including a hat trick from Dakotah Mohr.  Six UCD players threw in one goal each, while Keelia Houston pitched in two.

The Seawolves had 19 attempts at a goal, including seven from Bridgette Souza, who leads the team and is fourth in the nation in goals scored.  O'Connell scored on her only attempt to take away the shutout.

Ariel Lockshaw started in the cage for the Seawolves and saved seven balls.  Courtney Risden was inserted in goal with 1:25 remaining.  For the Aggies, Rachel Tatusko started in goal, saving 15 balls from entering the cage.  Jillian Wilding came in at the start of the fourth quarter and tallied three saves.

Sonoma State will take part in the Loyola Marymount Invitational next Friday and Saturday (Mar. 16-17), playing four games in two days, opening with a WWPA matchup against Cal State San Bernardino, starting at 11:45 a.m. in Los Angeles.
