BOX SCORE Sonoma State 3, Cal State East Bay x (25-19, 25-11, 25-16) -- Box Score

ROHNERT PARK --
Caylie Seitz and Ally Sather smacked 11 kills each and Nicole Gragnola recorded 13 digs as the Sonoma State women's volleyball team needed just 70 minutes to dispatch Cal State East Bay, 3-0 (25-19, 25-11, 25-16), on Saturday night at The Wolves' Den in Rohnert Park.  The Seawolves, who hit .384 as a team and held the Pioneers (5-4, 0-2 CCAA) to just .106, improve to 8-2 overall and remain undefeated in conference play at 2-0.

It would prove to be another strong night for the Seawolves, getting off on the right foot in the first set with a 25-19 win to open the match.  In that opening frame, Sonoma State would fall into three ties with Cal State East Bay, the last being a 10-10 deadlock, but SSU would never surrender the lead, much thanks to an outstanding offensive effort by the hosts.  Led by five kills from Sather and three apiece from Madelyn Densberger, Kelsey Hull and Regan Richert, the Seawolves hit .500 at a team, smashing 16 kills with just three errors in 26 swings.

The second set wouldn't be nearly as efficient as the first for Sonoma State, but an all-around effort would allow the Seawolves to dominate Cal State East Bay, 25-11.  In the third set, the SSU defense would come up big, digging 18 of its 43 digs in what would prove to be the final frame of the night and holding CSUEB to a .000 hitting percentage (8k-8e-37a).  Meanwhile, Seitz, Sather, Densberger and Hull would smash all 13 of the kills in the final set to put the exclamation mark on the night with a 25-16 match-clinching win.

Sather would enjoy her third straight match with double-digit kills, tying Seitz for the match-high in that category.  Densberger ended with eight, Hull with seven and Richert with four.  Hayley Ross added 19 assists and three aces while Devin Shaver handed out 17 assists.  As a team, Sonoma State would sport a .384 hitting percentage on the night, its second-most efficient night of the season.

Cal State East Bay got just five kills from Nicole Boyle and Suzy Ni Xu to lead the Pioneers, who had just 22 kills as a squad.

Sonoma State will now hit the road for its next five matches, starting with a highly-anticipated matchup with Chico State (8-1, 2-0 CCAA) in Chico on Friday (Sept. 21).  The Seawolves' next home match will be on Oct. 5 against UC San Diego.
