LOS ANGELES
-- The Sonoma State women's water polo team knew they had their work cut out for them on Friday at the LMU Invitational in Los Angeles.  Playing a pair of teams ranked in the top 14 in the nation, the Seawolves fell twice.  Following an early 10-2 defeat to 14th-ranked Loyola Marymount, the Seawolves fell to 11th-ranked Princeton 15-5.  The losses drop the Seawolves to 8-13 on the season.

The Seawolves started slow on Friday as the 14th-ranked Lions put forth an exceptional defensive effort.  LMU led 6-0 after the first half and didn't allow a Sonoma goal until there were thirty seconds left in the third quarter.  Colette Reid was responsible for the first Seawolf goal and it would stand alone until the final moments of the game when Jessica Stansfield found the net.  Alexandra Honny had three goals to lead the Lions.  Ariel Lockshaw had eight saves for the Seawolves.

Like in their first game, the Seawolves would see their afternoon opponent, Princeton, take a big early lead.  After Brittny Hummel goal to cut the deficit to 2-1 in the first quarter, Sonoma watched the Tigers reel off nine goals in a row until an Adrienne Bisharat score in the waning seconds of the third quarter ended the streak.  By that point, it was too late to make a comeback, though the Seawolves certainly didn't phone it in, scoring three times in the final period.  In addition to Bisharat and Hummel, Cari Albers, Shannon Baer, and Sally Aster all had goals for the Seawolves.

The Seawolves are back in action tomorrow at the LMU Invitational.  They'll take on Cal State San Bernardino at 10:15 and Whittier at 2:00.
