Seawolves Edge Out Santa Clara On Senior Day, 10-8

Senior goalkeeper Ariel Lockshaw recorded 13 saves, two assists, and two steals in her final collegiate home game.
ROHNERT PARK – The Sonoma State women's water polo team was able to send of their senior players with a 10-8 victory over Santa Clara on senior day, the last home regular season game of the season.  With the win, the Seawolves turn in a 12-18, 6-7 WWPA record, including a 5-1 record at home.

The Seawolves got off to a fast start, netting three goals in the first quarter to take a 3-0 lead.  Sonoma State continued to score at will, scoring three more goals in the second quarter.  The Seawolves held a 6-3 lead at halftime, after allowing Santa Clara to score three times in the second quarter.

Scoring remained even in the third quarter as both teams recorded two goals; bringing the score to an 8-5 Seawolves lead.  Three goals would be a big enough cushion for Sonoma State, as they would net two more goals in the fourth quarter to secure a 10-8 victory over the Broncos.

Adrienne Bisharat and Jessica Becker each scored two goals for the Seawolves' offense, while Laura Kunz, Natalie Del Carlo, Alexa May, Jessica Stansfield, Lindsay Rangel, and Noelle Herrera each contributed one goal in the win.  Ariel Lockshaw recorded 13 saves in the cage and had two assists and two steals.

Sonoma State will take part in the WWPA Championship Tournament as the fifth seed and will take on fourth-seed Colorado State on Friday, April 26 at 11:00 am.
