Cara Curtin Named CCAA Women's Soccer Player Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Sonoma State University senior Cara Curtin has been named the Wilson/California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 16-22, it was announced by the conference office Tuesday.  Curtin, a senior from nearby Santa Rosa, Calif., scored three goals last weekend, including two in Friday's tie with No. 11 Cal State Stanislaus.

While two of her goals came in the final 30 minutes of regulation in Friday's tie with the nationally-ranked Warriors, Curtin scored her third of the weekend in Sunday's 2-0 victory at Cal State East Bay.  For the season, she is tied for the team lead in goals with five through Sonoma State's first six matches.  This is Curtin's second-career CCAA Player of the Week award.

Despite going 1-0-1 this past weekend, the Seawolves dropped one spot in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Top 25 Poll to No. 16.

Sonoma State will head south to take on a pair of CCAA South Division opponents this weekend, starting with a Friday night matchup with Cal Poly Pomona (4-2-0, 2-2-0 CCAA) at 7:00 pm, followed by Sunday's contest at UC San Diego (3-1-2, 2-0-2 CCAA), which is set for kickoff at 2:30 pm.
