ROHNERT PARK -- Kristina Fahey ended her four-year career with a team-high 13 points and
Molly Kommer added 11, but the Sonoma State women's basketball team suffered a 67-39 loss to Cal State East Bay in the season finale on Saturday night at The Wolves' Den.
The Seawolves ended the 2013-14 campaign with a 4-22 record overall and just 3-19 in the CCAA. The Pioneers, meanwhile, clinched the sixth and final seed in the next weekend's CCAA tournament in Ontario with the victory, finishing their regular season with a 16-13 record and 13-9 in conference action.
Sonoma State had no answer for Cal State East Bay's Danielle Peacon, who came off the bench to score 22 points in just 14 minutes of action. She tallied 18 of her 22 in the first half alone and finished the contest 10 of 13 from the hardwood. As a team, the Pioneers connected on 48.2 percent of their shots (27 for 56) and outrebounded the Seawolves, 40-24.
Fahey and fellow senior
Natalie Del Carlo saw their basketball-playing careers come to an end on Saturday -- Fahey netted 13 while Del Carlo scored two and grabbed two rebounds in the loss. Sonoma State was held to just 28.0 percent from the floor (14 for 50) and just 23.5 percent from three-point range (4 for 17).
The game was never in question as Cal State East Bay scored the first 10 points of the night and held Sonoma State scoreless until the 13:45 mark of the first period. The Seawolves pulled to within six at 12-6 with 11:47 left in the opening half, but the Pioneers went on a 15-2 run to essentially put the game out of reach.
