LOS ANGELES -- After seeing their three game winning streak come to an end yesterday, the Sonoma State women's water polo team looked to bounce back today on day two of the Loyola Marymount Invitational. They opened play against the Princeton Tigers at 8:00 a.m. A second game of the day was played against the Brown University Bears at 1:00 p.m.

The Seawolves offense struggled in the first game against Princeton.
Andrea Mallul and
Kim Covert split time in goal, but the change didn't seem to phase the Tigers as they won this won, 14-3.

Three Seawolves entered the scoring column with one goal each. They were
Carleigh Robinson,
Caitlin Risden, and
Alexa May.
Tessa deRecat added an assist on one of those goals.

Mallul started in goal and allowed eight goals on 11 shots. The switch to Covert was made at halftime. She allowed six goals on seven shots in the second half.

Sonoma State had more of a fight in them in game two against the Brown Bears. In this match, the Seawolves had the lead at the end of the first quarter, and were tied at the end of both the second and third quarters. A late slip in the final period cost Sonoma State this game as they ended up losing 10-7.

DeRecat netted her only shot on goal and added a steal to finish the day.
Brittny Hummel made 50% of her attempts, going 2 for 4 while also adding a steal and an assist.
Noelle Herrera also put in 50% of her attempts, giving the Seawolves a chance to win this game. She scored a team-high four goals on eight shot attempts.

But, all was for naught as the Seawolves allowed three fourth quarter goals and scored none to finish the day losing 10-7 to Brown. After the weekend losses Sonoma State falls to 5-16 overall.

The Seawolves next play next Friday, March 28 against Cal State Monterey Bay in Seaside, CA. First sprint is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
