SEASIDE, Calif. -- After trailing 4-3 early in the second quarter, the Sonoma State women's water polo team came alive, outscoring host Cal State Monterey Bay 10-3 the rest of the way to capture its first victory of the 2016 season, 13-7, on Saturday afternoon in Seaside. The Seawolves improve to 1-4 while the Otters remain winless at 0-5.

Kaysie Lewis took over, combining for seven of the last 10 Seawolf goals on the day.
The Seawolves held an 8-4 advantage late in the first half, but three unanswered goals by the Otters put the hosts within one score, but two goals by Lewis and two by Herrera, as well as one from
Lyndsie Williams, secured the win for SSU.
Lily Carlon also scored for Sonoma, doing so at the 6:16 mark of the second period. Lewis Williams and
Vanessa Vincent were credited with two assists each.
Taylor Plorin earned her first collegiate win as the goalie of record making 12 saves and recording two steals in the cage for the Seawolves. Her counterpart, Morgen Fain, also had 12 saves on the other end of the pool.
Sonoma State will take a week off from competition before hosting its annual Alumni Game on Feb. 6 (11:00 am). The Seawolves will then travel south to La Jolla to compete in the Triton Invitational, hosted by UC San Diego, on Feb. 13-14.
