Taylor Plorin tied her season-high with 14 saves in the cage, but the Sonoma State women's water polo team suffered a 12-5 loss to 19th-ranked Hartwick on Friday afternoon at the Dr. G. Edward Rudloff Pool in Rohnert Park. The Seawolves see their six-game win streak snapped, falling to 8-9 this season. The Hawks, meanwhile, improved to 12-5.
After the visitors scored the first goal of the day just two minutes into the contest, Robinson retaliated with a goal at the 4:31 mark in the first period, but Hartwick answered with a 4-0 run before
Kaysie Lewis threw one in just before halftime to make it 5-2 in favor of the Hawks.
However, Hartwick put in six unanswered goals in the third period alone to take an insurmountable 11-2 lead with 8:20 left in the contest.
Lyndsie Williams scored just before the end of the third quarter, then
Noelle Herrera and Robinson scored a couple minutes later, but it wouldn't be enough in the 12-5 loss.
Sonoma State will head to Bloomington, Indiana next weekend to compete in the Fluid Five, hosted by Indiana University. The Seawolves will take on the host Hoosiers Friday at 4:00 pm Pacific Time before playing fellow WWPA-members Gannon and Mercyhurst on Saturday.
